i found this book very confusing. there was too many povs and too many characters to follow that i just lost track of the whole point of why i was reading it. i had to search up names for half the characters in the book but it had a good storyline so i can see how people like it but i wasn’t a fan.
“We’re two sides of the same coin. Both of us are stuck in one of Echo Ridge’s unsolved mysteries, except her family lost a victim and mine has a suspect…”
Ellory and Ezra have moved in with her grandma while her mom goes to rehab. She doesn’t know what to think of the small town where everyone stares. Her aunts disappearance before the twins were born has kept them away but now she’s here and although her mother and grandmother don’t talk about what happened all those years ago Ellory is determined to find out the truth. She lives for true crime novels and now that there’s been a murder since her aunts disappearance Ellory is even more determined to follow the clues. With the help of her new friends, including the boy whose family has been caught up in it all Ellory finds herself getting close to finding the answers she has wanted for so many years. As a true crime fan myself I totally related to Ellory’s strong need to find the truth!
Malcolm’s mother has recently remarried but not even the marriage will keep people from talking about his older brother who was accused of murdering his girlfriend five years ago. Now that there’s been another disappearance Malcolm starts to understand exactly what his brother went through when everyone in town finds out he was the last person to see the missing girl. Malcolm is such a sweet character and I really liked that despite the criticism he is getting from those around him he doesn’t give up on helping Ellory find out what really happened.
Malcolm’s character was a really good balance to Ellory’s and I thought that having these two different points of view, the victim and the suspect, really contributed well to the mystery.
This thriller was so good and the twists at the end will surprise you! I enjoyed every minute of it and can’t wait to get more from Karen in the future!

This amazing psychological thriller had me guessing until the very end. A real page-turner, with plot twists around every corner. What a great read!
3.5 stars. Read this in less than 24 hours, but not because it was that great. It wasn't bad, it was actually quite good. It reminded me of if A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and Little White Lies had a baby. But the ending was way too rushed, everything was resolved within a couple of pages even though there was so much going on. They could have easily revealed things bit by bit instead of all at once. But the writing style was really nice and it read really nicely too, I flew through it.
