His & Hers

When a woman is murdered in Blackdown, a quintessentially British village, newsreader Anna Andrews is reluctant to cover the case. Detective Jack Harper is suspicious of her involvement, until he becomes a suspect in his own murder investigation. Someone isn’t telling the truth, and some secrets are worth killing to keep.

I thought I might DNF this but then it hit a stride and totally destroyed every theory I had. If you like a book that actually keeps you not only guessing but also going WAIT WHAT then this is for you!

It's safe to say that Alice Feeney is extremely skilled in baiting readers with crafty and misleading one-liners. Although this was the exact thing I disliked in Daisy Darker I think it was way more effective in this book because it added value to the plot and didn't feel like "unnecessary jump scares." It is a great approach to build tension and maintain suspense, while throwing readers of the scent of the culprit, especially in a fast-paced thriller like His&Hers. With multiple povs from the two main characters and the killer, this book built on excitement as it progressed. Feeney tended to align the killer's pov with that of the two main characters so that everyone seemed suspicious without giving anything away. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the big reveal. My only negative is I felt some little details about how everything unfolded at the end did not completely add up. I don't know if this was the author's intention, but it left me just the tiniest bit unsatisfied, so my rating is a star shy of 5 stars. Either way, lovely book. 👏🏾📚

This is a “who done it” kinda book. Kept me wondering on who the murder was until the very end. Halfway through the book, I assumed, but boy was I wrong! Good read!
