Wow. After not being able to get into the story at first, from about 50 pages in I could not put this book down. I love mysteries and normally can guess the ending at least half way through but this kept me guessing all the way up to the big night, would recommend.

Despite having such a dramatic/sensationalist main plot, Moriarty has such a keen grasp of human nature to make every development seem realistic. Doesn't take itself too seriously-- seems like a throwaway beach read until you find yourself considering all the issues woven into the plot for days afterwards.

This is my 3rd and favorite Moriarty book. I read the book first then watched the first episode of the show and I was surprised at the casting, except for Nicole Kidman who is obviously a Celeste. I can tell that this is a situation where I'll prefer the book, though the show seems to give more insight into Renata which is nice.

This book was so full of twists and turns. It held my attention and kept me captivated to the very last page.

That was fantastic.

I think it seems so damn fantastic partly because I went into it knowing almost nothing except that it had taken me a long time to get my hands on a copy of it. I think it seems so damn fantastic because once I did read the flap, I felt a little deflated and thought, "Oh, GREAT. This is actually chick-lit."

description

I suppose it is chick-lit, but I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN.

It is funny. It has distinct, memorable characters. It is light and fluffy on the surface but has some pretty tough issues that are addressed very well. As a mom, I found myself identifying with a lot of the thoughts (both funny thoughts and worrisome ones) of the moms in the book. I found myself worrying about what I will worry about down the road.

There is a plot twist that I was so disappointed I had figured out. And then it turned out that that wasn't even the actual plot twist. Although truth be told, I'm never very good at figuring out plot twists and never go out of my way to play detective.

This was truly one of the most enjoyable books I've read in a very long time, and I can't wait to read more of Moriarty's books.
