Tress of the Emerald Sea: A Cosmere Novel (Secret Projects)

#1 New York Times Bestselling author Brandon Sanderson brings us deeper into the Cosmere universe with a rollicking, riveting tale that will appeal to fans of The Princess Bride.
The only life Tress has known on her island home in an emerald-green ocean has been a simple one, with the simple pleasures of collecting cups brought by sailors from faraway lands and listening to stories told by her friend Charlie. But when his father takes him on a voyage to find a bride and disaster strikes, Tress must stow away on a ship and seek the Sorceress of the deadly Midnight Sea. Amid the spore oceans where pirates abound, can Tress leave her simple life behind and make her own place sailing a sea where a single drop of water can mean instant death? It's funny that this was my first Brandon Sanderson book, right? I absolutely loved it! The world building was breathtaking, and I personally felt Tress's emotions as it drew me back into the reality of her situation after getting so lost in the fantasy and humor.
It’s just an enjoyable read. This is my first Sanderson novel—I know, shocking. And I might try the Mistborn series because I enjoyed this read. The characters are bizarre and unique, but still endearing. I found the narrator fun and even though I guessed the twist mid-story, I still enjoyed the ending. Read this if you like unlikely heroes, found family and adventure/pirates.
This book is everything. It gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling all the way through. It has it all: wholesome relationships, effortless humour, a rat and a dragon. The detailed world building is amazing.
This is the first book by Brandon Sanderson I have ever read and I will definitely be returning to the Cosmere in the future.
