The Only Good Indians

From New York Times bestselling author Stephen Graham Jones comes a novel that is equal parts psychological horror and cutting social commentary on identity politics and the American Indian experience. Fans of Jordan Peele and Tommy Orange will love this story as it follows the lives of four American Indian men and their families, all haunted by a disturbing, deadly event that took place in their youth. Years later, they find themselves tracked by an entity bent on revenge, totally helpless as the culture and traditions they left behind catch up to them in a violent, vengeful way.

Ok I didn’t really enjoy this book very much. I tried reading the physical book, then attempted to read the ebook, & finally had to listen to it on audiobook to avoid DNFing it. It was just difficult for me to get into and unfortunately, it wasn’t for me. I didn’t really have any favorite characters because no one really stood out to me. I’m not sure if the writing style is what got to me or just the amount of animal cruelty that was included. I’m glad I finally got around to reading this though.
What a breathless, intricate, heart-stopping book. The Only Good Indians is a gruesome tale about four men who did something inexcusable and are forced to face the repercussions. It's a wild, occasionally difficult to follow story told in a colorful, conversational tone. I struggled with it partway through, but then I became absolutely immersed by the storytelling and horrific visuals. SGJ has some very important things to say, and he says them quite deftly.
