My Heart Is a Chainsaw (Indian Lake Trilogy, The)

a wonderful love letter to the slasher genre

I'm a fan of Stephen Graham Jones and his roaming, conversational style. I realize his voice doesn't work for anyone. My Heart is a Chainsaw is about a girl who uses slasher films to understand the world around her. It's funny, sharp, and full of gore and trauma. If you tried to read Graham's The Only Good Indians and were put off by the voice, this book has that same talkative patter to it, but it's reeled in nicely. I quite enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, not my favorite.
