Nightmare At 20,000 Feet: Horror Stories By Richard Matheson

Personally selected by Richard Matheson, the bestselling author of I Am Legend and What Dreams May Come, the stories in Nightmare at 20,000 feet more than demonstrate why Matheson's regarded as one of our most influential horror writers.
Featuring the story "Duel," a nail-biting tale of man versus machines that inspired Steven Spielberg's first film.Remember that monster on the wing of the airplane? William Shatner saw it on The Twilight Zone, John Lithgow saw it in the movie-even Bart Simpson saw it. "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" is just one of many classic horror stories by Richard Matheson that have insinuated themselves into our collective imagination. Here are more than twenty of Matheson's most memorable tales of fear and paranoia, including: "Prey," in which a terrified woman is stalked by a malevolent Tiki doll, as chillingly captured in yet another legendary TV moment; "Blood Son," a disturbing portrait of a strange little boy who dreams of being a vampire; "Dress of White Silk," a seductively sinister tale of evil and innocence.

I said that I would review this tomorrow. I said that on October 14, 2014. Whoops. Good thing I took notes.
And good thing this book is kinda sorta awesome and quite memorable.
I think I enjoyed Matheson so much because most of the stories have a very "Twilight Zone" feel to them. And I love me some Twilight Zone. There is a lot of paranoia, anxiety, and slow insanity. You're often wondering if the terror truly exists.
There is a large grab bag mix here, but all are very well written. I won't go through them all because I wouldn't want to give even one thing away. Which ones will become your favorites will be based on your own fears - what makes your skin crawl?
5 Easy Stars
And one I'll re-read...probably every October.
