A compelling standalone novel from the New York Times bestselling author of the Fall Away series--who never fails to deliver a "powerfully written contemporary love story."*

Former tennis player Easton Bradbury is trying to be the best teacher she can be, trying to reach her bored students, trying to forget her past. What brought her to this stage in her life isn't important. She can't let it be. But now one parent-teacher meeting may be her undoing....

Meeting Tyler Marek for the first time makes it easy for Easton to see why his son is having trouble in school. The man knows how to manage businesses and wealth, not a living, breathing teenage boy. Or a young teacher, for that matter, though he tries to. And yet...there is something about him that draws Easton in--a hint of vulnerability, a flash of attraction, a spark that might burn.

Wanting him is taboo. Needing him is undeniable. And his long-awaited touch will weaken Easton's resolve--and reveal what should stay hidden....

I liked this one okay - but there were many things that bothered me that kept me from loving.
I recant that statement because the more I think about this book, the angrier I get.

My thoughts

First thought after finishing

*Tosses kindle.*

Misconduct came highly recommend to me from one of my blogger friends - here's lookin at you Kim- and just the taboo aspect alone had me adding this to my TBR. I was beyond excited when it popped up on my kindle as a Christmas gift. (Thanks, Jess!) Sadly, as much as I was hoping to love this one, I just could not. The more I think about it, the angrier and more annoyed I get.

Honestly, the taboo aspect was by far the only part of Misconduct I really liked. There was a 12 year age different between the two characters and Easton was one of Christian's teachers, which happened to be Tyler's son. It adds an extra oomph to the story and makes all the scenes hotter.

And some scenes, were hot.

Easton was a hard character to like at times. She is smart, witty and I understand and related to her insecurities and need for control. But I felt like her brazenness was an act, and I could never take it, or her, seriously. Granted, I understand the need to keep people are arms length but... I don't know. I didn't buy it.. As for Tyler, well.

Straight to the point - he was a dick. I am this close *pinches thump and forefinger* to stating I hated him. I KNOW he is trying to redeem himself when it comes to the mistakes he made with his son, but again, didn't buy it. The alpha male persona was a major turn off. There was one scene in particular that had me raging  They were having sex  she kept saying, "please stop" or "we can't." Her body may have wanted it but never the less, he should have stopped and he didn't. It angered me so much I saw red. Could it have been part of their game? Absolutely. But just, no.

I also really, really disliked the sheer lack of seriousness with regards to her OCD. It was mocked throughout the entire book and coming from someone who has an up close and personal relationship with it, it was insulting. This isn't a curable condition, and it's especially not curable with a fucking dick. Yes, one can feel safe by being around another, but those "little quirks" do NOT go away.

The resolution was sub par, and convenient, I might add. The little added "mystery" part to the story line was in my opinion, ridiculous and not needed in the slightest, especially because again, convenient. This whole book felt under developed. And fucking mocking.

Will I read more from Ms. Douglas? I can't answer that. But I know for sure Misconduct is a very difficult one for me to recommend at this point.
