Malorie takes place after the events of Bird Box. The children are now teenagers, and the three live in utter isolation. The writing was clever and had some beautiful refrains, especially when it referred to "the fold." I was drawn to see what the future looks several years after the creature appeared. Malorie felt more like an in-depth study of the title character and her intricacies than a horror or thriller like Bird Box, but I like this different take because we don't want the same story over again. Solid book with a cool, dystopian world. I saw a lot of parallels between people discussing the necessity of blindfolds in the book vs. masks in our current climate.
4.5 Stars.
This book was definitely a ride! The suspense stays really high throughout which makes it very readable and hard to put down. I was very intrigued by the premise of the book and kind of wish it was flushed out at the end. That's all I can really say without spoiling it. Very solid read, would definitely recommend!
