In the year of Barbie, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift, let Elizabeth Zott be your next feminist icon.
I read this book nine months ago and think about it nearly every day. Bonnie Garmus wrote a beautiful and empowering story showcasing modern feminism in the 1950s. This book has everything, including the POV of a dog.
If this is on your TBR, you have just over a week to read before the Apple TV show comes out.

A story about a brilliant female chemist and her trials and tribulations that came with being herself - and honestly, sometimes just existing as a female - in the 1950's.
A lot of hype came with this book. Although I tried to ignore it and evaluate the book with the lens of complete objectivity, it was hard. I do think this was a beautifully written, easy to read book, but I didn't get that can't-put-down feeling. It would do well as a movie or TV show. The protagonist was quirky but incredible. I wish she was real! I would want to live next door and glean everything from her brain.
