Forever, Interrupted: A Novel

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo "Touching and powerful...Reid masterfully grabs hold of the heartstrings and doesn't let go. A stunning first novel." --Publishers Weekly (starred review) "Have you ever heard of supernovas? They shine brighter than anything else in the sky and then fade out really quickly, a short burst of extraordinary energy. I like to think you and Ben were like that . . . in that short time, you had more passion than some people have in a lifetime." Elsie Porter is an average twentysomething and yet what happens to her is anything but ordinary. On a rainy New Year's Day, she heads out to pick up a pizza for one. She isn't expecting to see anyone else in the shop, much less the adorable and charming Ben Ross. Their chemistry is instant and electric. Ben cannot even wait twenty-four hours before asking to see her again. Within weeks, the two are head over heels in love. By May, they've eloped. Only nine days later, Ben is out riding his bike when he is hit by a truck and killed on impact. Elsie hears the sirens outside her apartment, but by the time she gets downstairs, he has already been whisked off to the emergency room. At the hospital, she must face Susan, the mother-in-law she has never met--and who doesn't even know Elsie exists. Interweaving Elsie and Ben's charmed romance with Elsie and Susan's healing process, Forever, Interrupted will remind you that there's more than one way to find a happy ending.

I really liked this. Powerful and considerate. 8/10
I thought this book was well written and gave the reader a constant thought of how does someone move on when their worst nightmare has come true. I was hesitant to read this book, but once I gave it a shot, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. Furthermore, I would recommend reading from Taylor Jenkins Reid, One True Loves. Very similar style of constantly thinking what happens next, but definitely worth a read.
This is an excruciatingly sad book and I seriously cried almost all the way through it. The strange part was that I still really liked it. Taylor Jenkins Reid really captured the pain and peculiar thoughts of grief.
I always get excited to pick up a book by TJR, and this one didn't disappoint! (3.5 STARS)
Elsie Porter meets the love of her life and soulmate, Ben Ross, one cold evening while picking up a to-go pizza at a nearby pizza restaurant. They are instantly drawn to each other. Their love story is sweet and strong, but also heartbreakingly brief. They only know each other for 6 months, quickly decide to marry, and just 9 days after their nuptials, a devastating accident tears their lives apart.
TJR's writing style with this one takes you back and forth each chapter, from the past to present day. Elsie and Ben's relationship unfolds, and we witness the depth of their love; one that is fast and furious, but also incredibly real and passionate. We're introduced and get to know Elsie's best friend Ana (who deserves a "Best Friend In Life" award). When Elsie abruptly meets Ben's mother (Susan), the two of them start off rocky as Susan doesn't want to acknowledge the marriage between Elsie and her son, and the fact that the marriage was kept from her.
Both dealing with grief in their own ways, the two women form a bond. They offer each other comfort and a way back to normalcy, which is beautiful to witness.
This story describes what happens when grief overtakes you, but life continues to go on around you, even when you will it to stop. It's a story of love, grief and healing.
I enjoyed this one by TJR, but give it 3.5 stars as it's not at the top of my favs by her. However, I really liked this story. Ben is quick-witted and funny! The love between Elsie and Ben will make you swoon and cry. It also reaffirms that true love never dies! One of the things I love about TJR's writing is that she makes you F-E-E-L. And I felt all the feelings with this one!
So deeply beautiful, raw, and vulnerable. It was a roller coaster of emotions reading this book. It put everything on display. The ugly, the beauty, the guilt, confusion, and complete rejection of healing.
