Becoming

An intimate, powerful, and inspiring memoir by the former First Lady of the United States. In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world's most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

Good book!
DNF sorry got boring towards the end
In Michelle Obama's book, "Becoming," she portrays herself as down-to-earth and relatable. She candidly discusses her experiences in school as a person of color, shedding light on the challenges she faced. At one point, she reflects on the possibility of being a research subject rather than being recognized for her intelligence when it came to getting into an Ivy League school. She portrayed Barack Obama in a stricter light while perceiving him as more relaxed and easygoing.
I have nothing truly significant to say about this that hasn't already been said. Her journey to becoming..well, everything...is nothing short of a modern day fairy tale. Real life magic.
The part of her story that resonates with me the most is being a "box checker." We check all the boxes, and then what? Apparently then you become the first lady and the most respected woman in America. That's what!
