About The She-Wolves Book Club

The She-Wolves Book Club is open to women of all ages who love to read and connect to others through books. Our name is an homage to Virginia Woolf, the phenomenal writer of To The Lighthouse, which first brought us together. The image of the She-Wolf is also a nod to literary rockstar William Shakespeare and the brilliant Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés. We use the image of the She-Wolves because this is more than just a group of people who like to read, this is a pack.

“I am reading six books at once, the only way of reading; since, as you will agree, one book is only a single unaccompanied note, and to get the full sound, one needs ten others at the same time.” – Virginia Woolf

This Book Club is a place where we not only share books, but where we also share lots of laughs and the joys of French pâtisseries. We thrive to empower women in a group that can be a safe haven, a place where you can be vulnerable and share your stories, and where your stories will be met with love and openness. The She-Wolves Book Club can be your family away from home, it can celebrate your victories as the badass woman you are, and bring you solace when you feel blue. We stand by intelligent, confident, unapologetic women and we lift each other up on the days when we don't feel that way.

“For books continue each other, in spite of our habit of judging them separately.” – Virginia Woolf

Most of our meetings take place in Paris but you can always join us via Zoom. We also organize little adventures which are great bonding experiences: we have traveled to La Rochelle and Étretat, we have had sleepovers and movie nights and countless encounters in cafés! The books we select are suggested and voted for by our members. As we read, we grow together and literature acts as the catalyst of our transformations.

“As a woman I have no country. As a woman I want no country. As a woman, my country is the whole world.” – Virginia Woolf

On the first meeting, it was Andrea from Mexico, Jess from England and Messia from France. A few books later, it has snowballed into The She-Wolves Book Club with over 20 nationalities represented. This offers a unique experience and perspective on the books we review. Our meetings are conducted in English and the members are free to read the books in their mother tongues. Here as a She-Wolf, you will find meaningful conversations and long-lasting friendships.

“They all dreamt of each other that night, as was natural, considering how thin the partitions were between them, and how strangely they had been lifted off the earth to sit next each other in mid-ocean, and see every detail of each others' faces, and hear whatever they chanced to say.” – Virginia Woolf

Welcome to your pack!
