You: A Novel

NOW A HIT NETFLIX SERIES
A NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLER

"Hypnotic and scary." --Stephen King

"I am riveted, aghast, aroused, you name it. The rare instance when prose and plot are equally delicious." --Lena Dunham

From debut author Caroline Kepnes comes You, one of Suspense Magazine's Best Books of 2014, and a brilliant and terrifying novel for the social media age.

When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.

There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and she'll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight--the perfect place for a "chance" meeting.

As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beck's life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beck's perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their way--even if it means murder.

A terrifying exploration of how vulnerable we all are to stalking and manipulation, debut author Caroline Kepnes delivers a razor-sharp novel for our hyper-connected digital age. You is a compulsively readable page-turner that's being compared to Gone Girl, American Psycho, and Stephen King's Misery.

Dear Joe,

I like you.

I hate admitting that out loud - but there's something about your charismatic voice & determination that draws me in. Horrified as I was, I was seriously obsessed with your story; I just HAD to know more. I had to know what you'd do next... I had to finish. I freaking sympathized with you. On MORE than one occasion!

This is scary.

See, what really makes me pause was how often I found myself agreeing with you. How often I thought, "YOU ARE SO RIGHT. KILL EM!"  Then I would sit and wonder, "WHAT THE HELL? THIS IS NOT OKAY." Shameful, really. But being inside your head is addicting, and while I'm glad to be out of it; my senses are coming back and that fuzzy blanket has been lifted, I kinda miss it.

This too is scary.

Many, many times I was in awe of just how far you went. You did take things too far sometimes, Joe. Seriously. I get it. You love Beck. But man, your construed reality of right vs wrong is OUT THERE, yet fascinating. Which again, makes me wonder just how normal I really am. It was also quite scary how some of your thoughts remind me of my husband.

I have to wonder, though, how in the world were you able to DO it all, hmm? Some of the logistics just don't add up. Could be because you never went into any detail about it, but I wonder. I'm also curious about what in the hell you're gonna do now. You screwed up royally, Joe. After everything you did for Beck... *smh* But I saw that light bulb go off when you saw Amy. I just.. can't believe it. How far will you go this time?

Well. I supposed I've said I needed to. And yes, I'll be following your story in Hidden Bidies. No doubt about it.

Sincerely (a deranged fan),
Tonyalee
