While Mortals Sleep: Unpublished Short Fiction

I don't read many short stories, because I read so fast that they're over by the time I get interested, and because the twist endings are usually annoying... but there are two authors who do the form like it oughta be done: Hemingway, and this man. These stories are lovely, and though sweeter overall than his other collections like Welcome to the Monkey House (which upon re-reading I discovered had formed most of my consciousness), at heart it is just as caustic.
