This book is such an important and powerful read. It covers topics such racism and predejuice and other abhorrent things that should never exist in our world and society. The book is a wise and finely crafted classic. The court scene within the book showed the true meaning behind this novel. It is a quick, short and worthwhile read.
Within saying that I rated this book 5 stars as the first half of the book I was waiting and waiting for something to start happening and nothing of significance happened until around 150 pages in. It was one of the harder reads I have completed but I do not regret reading it.
I read this first at school thought I would hate it. But in actual fact I loved it so much I went out and brought a copy.
My first introduction as a young person that the world could be cruel and unjust to the poor, the vulnerable, to the non-white. Narrated by a child, trying to understand the world in which she was living, made the idea of racism even more incomprehensible. I would love to read this again as an adult.
