Yes I read this in one day. No I have no regrets. The story and the writing instantly pulled me in. The author both helped me to get to know the characters and made me feel like I already knew them at the same time. She did a great job of creating a believable and familiar dynamic without it feeling stereotypical. Usually here would be where I complain about the man being toxic and abusive but… he’s a serial killer so that’s to be expected. The author also didn’t really attempt to redeem his character in any way which I appreciated. It was portrayed more in a way of him figuring out and navigating unfamiliar “human” emotions on his own which is much more believable.
