This was an intriguing, circular story that tied up all of the loose ends nicely. There were a few scenes in the book that I found genuinely creepy. I love how the author explores the disconnect between father and son when dealing with trauma. Throw missing and murdered children into the mix, and this book is dark, substantial, and has a satisfying conclusion.

"If you leave the door half open, soon you'll hear the whispers spoken. If you play outside alone, soon you won't be going home. If your window's left unlatched, you'll hear him tapping at the glass. If your lonely, sad and blue, the Whisper Man will come for you".

What an eerie book, filled with suspense, twists turns and side stories combined together to become one fantastic story! I literally had chills reading this book. I couldn't stop reading, I was addicted to this novel. I some points I felt like I couldn't breathe because of how real it all felt. This story is a brilliant thriller that will make you feel on edge, maybe make you feel a little uneasy going to bed at night and certainly make you feel strange when you hear a creak of a door or floorboard. I never get overwhelmed with books but this book I did. Particularly the last chapter in part four. Wow.

With a string of boy murders 20 years ago that are solved but one body still missing it's still on DI Willis' mind, and a start of what looks more boy murders happening again it feels all too familiar for the DI Willis. This book is filled with unexpected family reunions on both good and bad sides and what seems like history repeating itself. The talk of imaginary friends and whispers in the night as well as "A packet of special things" can help towards the meaning of life, unconditional love and death.

The way is is wrote is brilliant. This has to be my favourite Thriller/Horror book I've read this year alone!
