The secret garden is a timeless classic that I had seen the movies of but hadn't read the book of it in years.
Getting to delve deeper into the story I learned more behind the tale. The close connection between the cousins. The possible romance blossoming between Mary and Dickon and my favourite character Archibald Craven seeing the ghost of his wife.
I believe this was an often occurrence for him whenever he needed her but that she had never brought up their son to him before or had done and he'd felt too guilty to go back and see their child.
In the sequel to it I would've loved to see the son and the father's relationship dynamic developing.
I also believe that the garden and Mary's character are one and the same, as it begins at a wildness from being left alone for too long and she is much the same. Over time they both get better and much more beautiful.
