I loved this book a whole lot more than I thought I would. It was beautifully written with great symbolism. The topics that it touched on are very important and analyzing it for class actually made it even better (which normally doesn't happen for me since I find that task tedious)
Give the vernacular, Methinks Hawthorne is difficult to begin, however, as one ultimately becomes accustomed to the lengthy sentences and early American prose, one begins to intimately feel compassion and awe for Hester. As Nathaniel so eloquently phrases at the end of chaper 1, we relieve an ultimate tale of human frailty and sorrow.
