The Queen of Nothing (The Folk of the Air, 3)

By #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black, the first book in a stunning new series about a mortal girl who finds herself caught in a web of royal faerie intrigue. Of course I want to be like them. They're beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever. And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe. Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King. To win a place at the Court, she must defy him--and face the consequences. In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

What a fitting ending to a fantastical series. The relationship dynamics, scheming and betrayals all made for an exciting read. I read through this series FAST, and it completely lived up to the hype!
Another great read. I loved the character development and the world we can get lost in. I could not put this book down. And I am so happy with how it ended. Great finish to a great series.
This book took me half a year to finish, when people say it’s enemies to lovers they are lying, DO NOT LISTEN to them; it is all enemies no lovers at all (okay, theres a little bit of lovers but its live three lines and then its over).
This book is fantasy politics and ways to over through its government, Jude and Vivi are the only characters I actually enjoyed while all the other characters got on my nerves and made me want to punch them.
As my girlfriend said this is Jude’s villain origin story and she is considered the villain; yes, Carden is cruel however this book is not revolve around him, it shows how Jude changes to survive and how she becomes the monster she is fighting.
Songs that I listened to while reading:
→ Talk by Hozier
→ The Great War by Taylor Swift
→ My Eyes by The Lumieers
→ Secrets and Lies by Ruelle
→ Dark Red by Steve Lacy
Favorite Quotes:
“Because you’re like a story that hasn’t happened yet. Because I want to see what you will do. I want to be part of the unfolding of the tale.”
“He rises from the throne. “Come, have a seat.” His voice is replete with danger, lush with menace. The flowering branches have sprouted thorns so thickly that petals are barely visible. “This is what you wanted, isn’t it?” he asks. “What you sacrificed everything for. Go on. It’s all yours.”
“In Faerie, there are no fish sticks, no ketchup, no television.”
“I thought I was supposed to be good and follow the rules,” I say. “But I am done with being weak. I am done with being good. I think I am going to be something else.”
“You may win in the end, you may ensorcell me and hurt me and humiliate me, but I will make sure you lose everything I can take from you on the way down.”

Honestly I struggled through the first part, then when I got to the second part and it really got good, I realized that most of the first part was fluff.
