Jessica Strawser has done it again. Were it not for a busy workload and a need to return this book earlier, I would have finished much sooner. Strawser has the uncanny ability to make you love a character but also secretly hate them at the same time, at least until the end. “The Next Thing You Know” is a beautifully written encounter of what it looks like to face your own mortality when your mind feels like it has already made its own decisions. How, even in our darkest moments, there is always a light to pull us back. Whether we are on the brink of death or not, I think we could all use the guidance of a death doula to keep us on the path of happiness and living our best life. I can’t wait to see what Strawser has in store for us next but I can already tell it’s going to be a best seller.
