Sooooo I absolutely LOVED the writing style for this book .. it was so easy to follow & I wasn’t confused. It was told from two different women of color POV during the 1950s .. & focused heavily on all the challenges we as black women faced & are still facing today .. in 2023! I learned so much from this book & I think everyone should read it. My favorite part was the authors note at the end.

Loved it - historical fiction - great story, well-developed characters and moving account of a very difficult time for women, especially women of color.

Loved the pieces of history woven throughout the story. It was an emotional roller coaster for sure, and beautifully written.

I wanted a better ending BUT this was honestly a book I couldn't put down. The story of these two parallel lives is written beautifully. This is a great historical fiction that really pinpoints the reality of what it was to be a Black Woman in the 1950's. The haves and the have-nots, the societal bias and the oppression of women are all explored and it's definitely worth the read.

I thought Elenor was going to walk away from the Pride family...I'd love a sequel or the story picked back up from the daughter's or Ruby's perspective.

I really enjoyed this book! In the beginning you wonder how these 2 stories are going to cross paths. I definitely kept thinking of scenarios when it would happen. Ending was such a beautiful plot twist, I cried!
