The translation of the original Hebrew novel renders it a very lyrical and easily absorbed story, while in no way making it easy for the reader to understand the motives and relationships of the major characters. While it is understood that the mother, the brother and Noga love each other and are trying to make the mother's life easier after the recent death of the father, there are mysterious happenings that are difficult to resolve, like why did Noga refuse to have children? Was she happy living in Holland performing with the local orchestra? Why did she agree to perform as an "extra" in the Israeli film industry - apart from filling her time while she was in Israel? Read the book to discover these intriguing questions.
