Sweet Tooth Vol. 4: Endangered Species

"They were hunted...but they survived. The half-animal hybrid child called Gus and the big man called Jepperd have escaped the clutches of a brutal militia, with a ragtag band of scientists, survivors, and other hybrids in tow. Though the betrayals and sins of the past are fresh in their minds, an uneasy truce binds the group together. Now they head north to Alaska, where salvation from the sickness that slaughtered billions--and the mysterious condition that created Gus and his hybrid friends--may be found."--P. [4] of cover.

Definitely the best volume so far.

I love the female bonding between Lucy, Becky, and Wendy. I love the relationship between Gus and Jeppard. I love that even if Jeppard turned out to be a complete 100% villain, I would still refuse to believe that he was anything but a wounded teddy grizzly bear. I love the mystery. I love that this Walter character gives me the heebie jeebies. I love the cliff hanger that makes me anxious that I don't own the next volume yet. I actually even love the watercolor-ish unconscious Gus panels. This one had my favorite artwork overall. I can't tell if it changed a bit in this volume or if it's just grown on me. Maybe a bit of both.
