I thought this would be a mini version of Stamped from the Beginning for children but that’s completely wrong. This is very much its own book, excellent for adults and teens alike. It was packed on every page with facts and thoughtful analysis, likely the result of amazing writing and tight editing. I can’t recommend it enough.

HIGHLY recommend this book. Not only was it very informative but Jason Reynolds presents history in an engaging and comprehensible way. This book does an excellent job of highlighting the connection between historical events and showing how our present is shaped by the past. It left me wanting to learn more and the call to action in the acknowledgments was impactful. Not to mention the writing was truly exceptional!

I definitely need a physical copy to reread and share. I'm going to pick up the full version, Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi next. Can't recommend this enough. If you can listen to this one, the audio version was incredible!

Definitely makes me want to pick up Stamped from the Beginning ASAP! I would highly recommend this as a primer for an understanding of history and systems that shape racism in America. I listened to it on audio and it was a very engaging listening experience.
