Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, 1)

This #1 New York Times bestseller and deliciously creepy horror novel has a storyline inspired by the Ripper murders and an unexpected, blood-chilling conclusion.

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life. Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine.

When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her back to her own sheltered world. The story's shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling, #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

It took me some time to warm up to Audrey Rose and Thomas but at the end of the book I really liked them! I liked that Audrey Rose wasn't afraid to be feminine and pretty while also being badass but I wish there was a little less "oh I'm the enlightened one and look at all these other women only concerned with makeup/dresses/boys, I'm so above them" Can we please have women supporting women, like Liza with Audrey Rose, and less women tearing each other down please? The twist at the end was interesting, not a total shock, but close to one. I do wonder if there were enough hints in the beginning of the book to justify it. Overall a solid read, I'll be continuing the series!

I loved the book but I couldn’t really get into it. It was hard because I knew it was a good book but… 6 outta 10 stars because of the horribly slow start.

“What must it be like, knowing you raised the devil? It probably felt the same as knowing you sat by a monster day in and day out, never noticing the blackness of his soul.” Okay so I was intrigued at the beginning but it got somewhat boring in the middle, but then the ending I wasn’t expecting. So four stars.
