Strong ending to the Liveship traders. It ended in some ways I expected, but different in other ways. As an ending to its own trilogy, I love how the characters grew up. I will say, one ending didn't feel satisfying to me, but that may be due to my utter hatred of one or more characters. Other than that instance, while I didn't see many of the characters' final paths coming, I have come to appreciate them. It's a real look into how some stories take the path they need, not the path the reader would plan themselves.
In addition to the resolution to this trilogy, we now have so much more to explore in Realm of the Elderlings as a whole. I love that every time we resolve some mystery, it opens up a whole complex network behind it.
This series totally can be read on its own (without having read the Farseer trilogy) and is not strictly needed to follow the Farseer trilogy, but I highly recommend reading the Farseer trilogy first, then following on to this because it really expands the world.
