What a beautifully woven story. Moments in this book felt like I was in Esch’s shoes, standing in the Pit. The build up, chapter by chapter and day by day made it nearly impossible to put this harrowing story down.

Very descriptive and moving story about a poor black community in the coastal area of Mississippi preparing for the hurricane, Katrina.

I do NOT like this author. I can do without the puke, snot, saliva.... all other bodily omissions. Too gross and totally unnecessary.
