Since I have decided to do this whole audio book thing, I went searching at the library for "New to me titles". At my closet library, pickings were slim. Anyway. Prophecy of the Sisters caught my eye while browsing and I snagged it because of the cover >.< I know. I had never heard of it and there weren't too many reviews on Goodreads for it (well, that I trust anyway). So, I wasn't quite sure what to expect heading into this one. I will say though, I was not disappointed.

The premise of this book is so fascinating. Two sisters, a part of an age-old prophecy, destined to become enemies. The mystery of the prophecy, the suspense on who to trust and the historical elements made this a very dark and interesting read. The writing is strong and I loved her prose but the book was slow at times. Also, I loved loved LOVED the music. It made it so much more eerie and there were times I had goosebumps. EEK.

The Prophecy itself was really interesting. One sister, The Guardian; who is to protect the "world" and stop The Gate from letting souls into the human realm. The other, The Gate; who is destined to BRING the souls from the other worlds to the human realm. There is something about Alice and Lia that make them different from the previous sisters, since Lia is the Angel of Chaos and is the one that would bring forth the beginning of the end, basically and I loved how the was a small twist thrown in about who was who and WHY. Although one was meant to be "good" and the other "bad", they still had a choice. I like this added detail because I am a huge believer that what makes us good or evil is our actions and choice, not because of something we were "born to". Or in fiction, destined to do. I really wish I would have had a copy of the book with me, so I could have re read the Prophecy myself. Some of it was pretty easy to decipher while other bits weren't.

I thought Lia was a strong, loving girl. Things weren't easy for her after her Father's death and it was shortly after that everything started to spiral out of control. I understood her hesitations to trust anyone, especially Alice. There were times though, were I wish she was little bit more.. straight forward. I don't think it was right how much information was held from her and she should have demanded more, in my opinion. Alice was kind of creepy, to be honest. She had this.. innocent evilness going on. The type that would be smiling and go about her day after trying to kill you. Literally. In a way, I also felt sorry for her. It was pretty obvious Lia was "favored" and although her Aunt is supposed to help guide her, she is definitely on Lia's side. Both girls are conflicted in their roles as well. It isn't that obvious but it's there.

We also have Sonya and Luisa. Two girls that are connected to the Prophecy as well. I really liked both girls. Sonya knows more about the "worlds" and I thought she was a good friend and asset to Lia. James, the love interest, doesn't play a huge role, in my opinion. He's there. *shrug*  This isn't a romance in any means--I am glad that it doesn't play THAT big a role in the story. Henry, Lia and Alice's brother, plays a small yet significant part in the as well.

My Peeve- It has to do with the story as a whole; but everything seems pretty damn unfair for Lia. Everyone and everything is working against her. Regardless of the reasonings, she is left with a HUGE burden to bear, with NOTHING.

Overall- I really enjoyed this book. It's dark, mysterious and will kept me engrossed until the very end. My son even liked it. I hope I can find the second book on audio at the library! I am SO curious to see where Michelle will take us next. I recommend this one.
