Praise (Salacious Players' Club, 1)

She's a good girl, but she's falling for the wrong man.

Broken down by her emotionally neglectful ex, all Charlie Underwood wants is someone to tell her she's good enough. Then she stumbles into a new job with a boss who brings her to her knees--literally.

As an owner of the Salacious Players' Club, Emerson Grant knows exactly what he wants and isn't shy about his particular tastes. But when he mistakes Charlie for a candidate to be his new submissive instead of his son's ex-girlfriend, he immediately tries to correct the situation. He offers Charlie a job as his secretary and nothing more...

Yet now that Charlie has seen a glimpse of what can happen when she's honest about what she wants, she makes it clear that all she wants is Emerson. He might be twice her age and her ex-boyfriend's dad, but he's also the only man who can give her everything she desires.

How far will she go to hear his approval?

I guess I'm in the minority here...Not terrible. Definitely NOT good either. I simply couldn't jive with Charlotte. She irritated me. And the age gap thing wouldn't have been too too weird, if she was a mature 21 year old. But she hardly was. She was juvenile...ie, worked at a skating rink. She had no real prospects for her own future growth, no pursuing education. Or looking for a better job. Just a naive kid that still lived at home. Which is OK! But if you expect me to think she'll be catnip to this man, nope. Not believable. So it was so hard to actually invision the accomplished 40 year old man, wanting to seriously date her. To add to the unrealistic and age gap budding romance was the fact she originally was dating and living with his son. Now, let's talk about Emerson's son, Beau. A total manchild. Cheated on Charlotte, so they broke up after 15 months. Yet in the book, she placates him. She tells him he deserves to be loved by someone one day. She toots his own horn, to keep the peace btwn father and son. The constant theme here is Emerson is torn while pursuing a relationship w Charlotte, because of how Beau will feel and how it will effect their already strained father son relationship. So the author constantly uses this as a crutch. So while Emerson is dealing with turmoil of being a bad father because he wants to bang Charlotte, he views Charlotte's Instagram and finds all her old photos of when she and Beau were together. Uhhhh...why? Didn't they break up bc of Beau's infidelity. They moved out of their shared apartment together due to the breakup. He cheated on her. She hated how he constantly made her feel so small and dumb. So WHY does she still keep photos of the turd up on her page? Oh right, so the author can keep using it as a point of contention for the newly budding relationship between Charlotte and Emerson. I could go on. But I won't. I felt no chemistry between these two. Just a lot of naked action. Which is fine, but when you throw the L word in there with these 2, you lose me.
