I had a couple of friends recommend this book, and so I finally picked up a copy and dove in headfirst. First of all, the storyline was rather unique and captivating. I liked that aspect of the book.
But once the story got underway, I soon realized just what kind of book this was - a book driven by sex. I don't really care that the 2 main characters (our happy couple) had just wed and were mad for each other. That still doesn't mean that I want or need to hear all the intimate details of what happened behind closed doors. I just don't know why authors think we all want to read about such unrealistic sexual encounters over and over again. No wonder no one stays married anymore. Who can live up to that level of hype?
I found myself blushing and skimming through those sections of the book, which accounted for far too much of the book. Seriously, if the author could write an abridged version while simply stating: "they went back at it again," each time the couple opted to make love, the book would have been half as long, and I would have felt better about it.
This book is the first in a series, and I'm opting out on continuing the series.

I have never been more invested in two characters like I was with Jamie & Claire. Obsessed is an understatement, I can’t wait to read the rest of the books!
Thoroughly entertaining romance and adventure fantasy book. Even though it’s long, it’s a pleasure that it’s long. It only took me 2 weeks to read it because I enjoyed it enough to keep coming back to it. Some disturbing things happen towards the end though and it does make me nervous to continue with the series.
