My Killer Vacation

Thoroughly enjoyable though I didn’t really get the murder side plot? 8/10

“Terrible things happen sometimes, but you can’t avoid the high of happiness and joy, because you’re too afraid of falling from a great height.” Myles was a real good written grump, not the kind of grump who starts smiling after 50 pages. He stayed a grump, but he had a soft spot for her. Taylor is this girl who is energetic and happy, she was adorable. Jude, her brother was funny. The story was so good. Mystery AND romance? The best combi ever.

I thought this one was going to a delightful (slightly steamy) hallmark mystery. Just kidding. It was instead an aggressively steamy (like more than 50 shades, tbh) romance with hints of a mystery undercurrent. I'm all for steamy books, but let's not pretend you're a mystery. It was pretty good, but not a mystery. (Am I hung up on this? YES) It was the first Tessa Bailey book I read and I liked it once I got away from the fact it's definitely not a mystery! I'll have try another of her books and hope is not masquerading as well!

Reading and watching reviews of My Killer Vacation, I had such high expectations. And I can say Tessa completely fulfilled them. This book is just amazing, a 5-star read for me. I was mostly invested in the romance, but the mystery-crime part was such a nice addition. I didn’t see the ending coming at all. Plot twist? Really. I really fell in love with My Killer Vacation. I loved this book so much, I can’t even talk about it without smiling. Taylor was such an amazing FMC, I love her so much. She’s super likeable and I’m just so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone! Myles wasn’t perfect, and I think that’s the reason I love him so much. He tried really hard to be good for Taylor, and I just love him so much for it. He was imperfectly perfect! He’s my new book boyfriend, I need a Myles in my life!
