I may have been too old for the target audience which is why I feel the way I do about this one.
The high school drama was definitely present here. By the title, I expected this to me more of a romance story. It ended up having teens afraid to admit their true feelings. Flip flopping relationships. Hearts breaking. It felt very early 2000's.
In the beginning it was hard to keep up with. With so many characters, it was confusing to know who was involved in certain parts. I respected the bond between the two main characters and how they always had each others backs even when it meant they lost something. But why self sabotage your relationship with someone you are in love with? And why make your best friend do it?
It was like a whole season of Degrassi in a book. Nothing stood out to me.
The female voice was fine, but when she was quoting another character her voice got higher pitched and annoying.
