Loveless

For fans of Love, Simon and I Wish You All the Best, a funny, honest, messy, completely relatable story of a girl who realizes that love can be found in many ways that don't involve sex or romance.

From the marvelous author of Heartstopper comes an exceptional YA novel about discovering that it's okay if you don't have sexual or romantic feelings for anyone . . . since there are plenty of other ways to find love and connection.

This is the funny, honest, messy, completely relatable story of Georgia, who doesn't understand why she can't crush and kiss and make out like her friends do. She's surrounded by the narrative that dating + sex = love. It's not until she gets to college that she discovers the A range of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum -- coming to understand herself as asexual/aromantic. Disrupting the narrative that she's been told since birth isn't easy -- there are many mistakes along the way to inviting people into a newly found articulation of an always-known part of your identity. But Georgia's determined to get her life right, with the help of (and despite the major drama of) her friends.

I loved how this showed that relationships between people can still be full of so much love without it being romantic or physical. It helped me better understand myself and also people who are ace and Aro. It was a beautiful read.

Finished in just a few days and I seriously looked so much forward to waking up or getting back home to keep reading/ listening to this book. Not what I was expecting in a really beautiful way. I mean, I did have a good feeling about the book from before I started it, yet I felt pleasantly surprised about the whole thing. It was funny, it was cute, it was educational and entertaining. Lots of references to things such as movies, music, feelings, experiences etc I resonated with, which I liked. Even things I've never experienced myself felt like it made so much sense and I got a whole new understanding and appreciation for how different we all are, and how different we all feel, and how cool and totally awesome and more than okay that is! And more than anything I got a new appreciation for how much love there is all around in so many more ways than I so far have let myself appreciate and acknowledge in life as much as I really want too now. And I love that. Will read/ listen to this again for sure 👍
