The book title itself sold me out on purchasing this book, as a physical copy. Which I backordered because it was sold out-everywhere.
What I was not expecting was how well written this book is, and how candid it tells the tale of a million children who have been victims of malignant narcissistic/BPD parents.
Jennette deserves all the success this book is having, more so because it's a slap on the face to Nickelodeon for the meager offer of 300k they made her to keep her mouth shut. Well, now we got the story from the primary source, and she's slaying it!
Thank you Jennette, for giving a voice of expression and clear definitions to us children that never had one growing up, and who also had our lives and childhoods robbed. And that title that will surely trigger all of the people who continue to try and silence us, well done!
I digested this one in 3 days time upon delivery. The reason it took 3 days to read was that I needed pause in some chapters, as I saw the parallels in Jannette's memoir and my own childhood. Somethings were hard to digest, and painful reminders. But it's an important story that needs to be heard, with an open mind and loving heart.
Can't wait for her next book, whatever that may be (maybe a screenplay) I'll surely have it on my bookshelf.

This was such a powerful book. Kudos to the author for sharing such intimate, painful, hopeful experiences.
Wow... This was batshit crazy and so endearing all at once. I already loved Jeannette Mccurdy, but now I'm just blown away by how much she endured from her mother under the guise of love.
