I couldn't read this book fast enough. The story kicks off on starting blocks and never slows down. The drawings are intense. Loved it.
I was expecting a more suspenseful reading experience going into this, and people (that I know and that I follow online) have raved about this book. It wasn't nearly as disturbing as I thought it would be. About 80% of it was okay; decent setup, pretty good pacing, a few eerie elements here and there. Also, the illustrations to support the story was a pretty cool add-on (probably the best part of the book).
That all being said, the last 20% of the book took a sharp turn that I didn't like. The twist was, well, yes, a twist. But I was expecting something... more. More than once in the last 30 pages, I either exclaimed in outrage or just flat-out laughed.
Not the great suspense I was hoping to creep myself out with this Halloween season...
A 21 year old girl finds her first job out of drug recovery nannying a 5 year old child. She discovers that not only everything no what it seems in the house, but potentially a chance at redemption for the sins of her past. This book literally slayed
This book was so good 👍🏻 I was so into it!! 100% recommend. It was so good and it also freaked me out at some points too.
VERY rarely does a thriller book actually get me with the twist, but this one sure as hell did. I couldn't put this book down.
