To preserve knowledge and save humankind, Seldon gathers the best minds in the Empire--both scientists and scholars--and brings them to a bleak planet at the edge of the galaxy to serve as a beacon of hope for future generations. He calls his sanctuary the Foundation.

In Foundation, Asimov has written a timely and timeless novel of the best--and worst--that lies in humanity, and the power of even a few courageous souls to shine a light in a universe of darkness.

This might require another read. I’m lost in space.

This consists of five related stories originally published separately. There's a realistic but disjointed effect from these snapshots of time. Took me a long time to get through because it was hard to figure out what - if anything- was the overarching plot.

Fantastic.
I think the stars aligned for me to read this at this time in my life.
I often had chances and reminders to read this when I was younger, but I think I can appreciate it much more today. Now.

3.5 I think the premise of this book is really interesting and it’s influence can be widely seen through out the genre, the concept of following an empire from its destruction to recreation was an interesting take on a novel. In terms of personal enjoyment I rank it lower as it does not follow the journey or any specific person the story lacked that personal connection that I personally crave in novels. I will at least continue with the trilogy and see from there
