CIRCE (#1 New York Times bestseller)

"A bold and subversive retelling of the goddess's story," this #1 New York Times bestseller is "both epic and intimate in its scope, recasting the most infamous female figure from the Odyssey as a hero in her own right" (Alexandra Alter, The New York Times). With unforgettably vivid characters, mesmerizing language and page-turning suspense, Circe is a triumph of storytelling, an intoxicating epic of family rivalry, palace intrigue, love and loss, as well as a celebration of indomitable female strength in a man's world.

In the eyes of men and gods all woman are witches. And thanks the heavens for that. Circe is punished for being a danger to the Titans and the gods, even her father is afraid of her. However she is not aware of her own powers, she thinks poorly of herself because she is not aware how powerful she is. Finally she realizes and she became free to do as she wants to do as she wants. She learn to share her magic with other woman, and a finally she understands sorority. I love this book so much, and I´m so glad for Circe and all the witches in my life.

Following a fiction book on Greek Mythology is definitely enjoyable by this author. Knowing the basics of the Greek Gods, I liked how the author follows the similar storyline but gives it life with the narrative inbetween. I found the ending to be a bit drawn out and a few pages too long but still a good read!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I started reading this book two years ago. I got to about half way through and I had to take a break. I was getting bored with the story and didn’t look forward to reading it. I thought I would just read another book then come back to it. The next thing, I know it’s been two years. I surprisingly didn’t forget much. I really enjoyed the second half of this book! I am very happy I finished this book and I would still recommend it.

Beautifully written, but of all the possibilities in the universe did she had to make it so terribly sad. Couldn't finish, too depressing.
