(Vague review)

So, this book is weird.

I don't know exactly what I expected when heading into this book. I knew that it was going to be a little weird; her other book (Don't You) Forget About Me was a serious mind (insert bad word here). But the level on weird this book contains is mind-boggling.

I am all for books that are confusing, mysterious and full of WTFery. Yet, it has to have some level of THIS MAKES SENSE because I will be distracted and probably DNF. That was my main issue with this book. I was distracted. And confused.

It took a good 1/3 of the book to really get it. We get POVs of different girls and poems from Annaliese, and trying to figure out who was who, what was what, was just exhausting. Whether or not this was the execution or my lack of brains, is anyone's guess. But once I GOT IT, it all made sense. Just a little too late I guess.

I didn't realize that his had a paranormal/supernatural aspect to it. Pleasant surprise though, I assure you. The horror element was fantastic; and I loved how gory it was.

I am a little confused about the ending. I don't fully understand what even happened, and why. >.<

Overall

Even though I confused for over half the book, I did enjoy it. Once I caught on and started to piece together what was going on, my enjoyment soared. I recommend it - but read is slowly and without distractions.
