Overall, this book is a classic mystery in the vein of the hard-boiled noir detective variety. A gritty serial killer plot that grapples intimately with a Southern small town's legacy of racism. It also delves into religious trauma in a very compelling way.
I've really enjoyed S.A. Cosby's work in the past and this new addition lives up to the expectations.
Docked 1 star because I don't think S.A. Cosby knows how to write women. All of the female characters are one dimensional plot devices.

It was a tough story. I just can’t believe people are still like this. Interesting how he incorporated Bible quotes throughout the story. For me it certainly questions any faith I have !
I think it got a little bogged down with lots of different characters.
I liked the book and the reading was easy and Titus was a great character.
I have to admit that towards the end I was eager to finish the book.
Not sure if I would read another .
S.A. Cosby has quickly become an automatic read for me. The audiobook was fantastic! This topic is timeless unfortunately and I think very relevant to today.
Tough topic. Great main character. A lot of characters that are all over the place. Would be willing to try another book with Titus as the main character if a series based of him was created.
Good story, immediately pulls you in. It has a political undertone which I normally don't like but the author does it in a way that doesn't take away from the story. I actually got to see if from a diffrent point of veiw which really xonnected me with many of the characters as well as seeing just how unjust the world can be. I really liked the MC and think the audiobook made this.
My only negative was there were so many different characters. I eventually got lost with who was who.
