Very heart warming
come in and know me better man!
I saw the movie many times before I read the book, and the movie is very similar. Reading the book was a bit more enjoyable though because you get more of Scrooge's internal world. It's such a feel-good treat.
Almost a month after Christmas, and I've finished "A Christmas Carol."
Most of us know the story, so I won't recap that. My knowledge of the tale however, had been limited to that of Scrooge McDucks and little Mickey Mouse eared Tiny Tims. This was my first Charles Dickens experience, and I liked it. His writing doesn't sound as pretentious as some of the other classics. It flows very nicely and sounds beautiful but is still very easy to understand. The story itself is pretty simple, so it was the language that really kept me reading. I felt it was wrapped up a little too quickly at the end but wasn't expecting a big climatic ending anyhow.
I'm really giving this a 3.5 because it is a classic and a sweet little tale, but it lacked the substance and staying power I crave. At the end of the day, I'll still just remember the basic storyline and that Charles Dickens wrote well.
