I get why it's important. And its a good book for what it is saying and demonstrating, its a product of internal thought and political awareness that has impacts through out the ages since its publishing.
But HOLY FUCK is the sexism, racism, and homophobia popping out! It is such a product of the first half of the 20th century that I really struggled to put up with it.

Read June 2020 NOTES S: Sexist writing and style not my thing T: Really liked the book for the most part, until the exposition at the end! J: was going good until a 70 page chapter of a man reading to a women who is asleep about the point of view of the author. Just rough B: Good until the last chapter. The last chapter took it from a 7 to a 5.

Amazing book very philosophical. It reflects a lot about modern day society . The outcome might not be everyone’s cup of tea but still very enjoyable:)

Had a greater impact on me than anything I had read in years. I wrote a political-science paper using it as source material, too. I found Orwell's essays fascinating as well, and dove into those a bit deeply after finishing this novel.
