Happy Valentine’s Day from everyone at Bookclubs! In honor of this special day, we’re highlighting a public book club that is all about love and romance: The Romantics Club. This online book club is for all the hopeless romantics out there who love to swoon over a book. We caught up with the club’s admin, Celia, who is a Nigerian-American Bookstagrammer and writer. Tell us a little about The Romantics and how your book club came about.
When I joined the bookstagramm community I was looking for a reading club that catered to the kind of books I read and found none. So I decided to create one
There are so many different subgenres of Romance, what are your favorite types of Romance books? Why?
It has to be a rom-com. I like to swoon over potential book boyfriends and laugh at the same time and then cry too!
As a writer, what’s it like discussing other people’s work, critiquing and praising it?
Ah! It gives me insight to what readers like and how authors navigate writing about what they love and what people would love to read.
What are your most anticipated Romance reads of 2022?
Ramon and Julieta, The Roughest Draft, Lease on Love, Am I Allergic To Men, Out of the Blue, Kamila Knows Best.
What do you like best about being in a book club?
Reading together and chatting about books. It's like I'm having a fun discussion with my best friends.
